Galaxy Club is a multiplayer AR game where human “fragments of consciousness” are connected with physical objects that exist in the real world.
The Covid-19 pandemic made 2019 and 2020 tough years for a lot of people. More or less, we all have experienced solitariness and have noticed changes in our mental states. Working/studying from home gives us more time to reflect on our inner minds; meanwhile, connecting with other people and putting out energy still seems a need that we want to fulfill.
So the design goal of this game is to meet people’s needs for inner self-exploration and outer community connection.
"Fragments of Consciousness" in the game
How They Work
At the first phase of a player’s journey, he or she is encouraged to explore his or her surroundings in AR and collect as many “fragments of consciousness” as possible. Those “fragments” will eventually turn into substances and objects appearing on his or her planets (the one assigned to each player at the beginning.)
After the player moves to the second phase, an energy instability alert will go off, which indicates that the player needs to find some other players to run a galaxy together. By orbiting their planets, players can find the right position for each of their planets in this galaxy, after which their planet’s energy status will become stable again.
